Every year, on behalf of its clients, The Chanler Group tests thousands of products for toxic heavy metals and chemicals, including but not limited to lead, cadmium, di(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate (DEHP), toluene and formaldehyde, which are known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects and reproductive harm.
In 2012, The Chanler Group analyzed products such as armchairs, sofas, stools, pillows and children’s furniture, for Tris(1,3-dichloro-2-propyl) phosphate (TDCPP) and Tris(2-chloroethyl) phosphate (TCEP). While some products were found to contain the carcinogenic flame retardants, many did not. TCG, in an effort to share information with the public, elected to publicize a list of the products returning a non-detectable reading of TDCPP and TCEP. See below for our Tested Furniture List.
