Citizen enforcer Michael DiPirro and settling party Antex (Electronics) Limited ("Antex") entered into an out-of-court Settlement Agreement on November 17, 1999, resolving DiPirro's allegations that Antex sold soldering equipment and finished products which, when used in a reasonable and foreseeable manner, expose users to Proposition 65 chemicals, such as lead and formaldehyde, in the State of California without providing the requisite health hazard warnings.

As part of the settlement, Antex agreed not to sell any solder equipment or products in California after January 1, 2000, unless the soldering products are accompanied by Proposition 65 warnings in compliance with subsections 1.1 through 1.3 of the Agreement.

The Settlement Agreement requires settlement payments of $10,590 to be divided therein between civil penalties, 75% of which are paid to California's Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment, and compensation to whistleblower DiPirro and his counsel for their successful enforcement of this matter in the public interest.
